

With over 37,000 students and more than 7,000 employees, the University of Copenhagen is the largest institution of research and education in Denmark. The purpose of the University – to quote the University Statute – is to ’conduct research and provide further education to the highest academic level’.
The Coordination for Gender Studies is a unit situated at the Department of Sociology, University of Copenhagen. The main objectives of the Coordination are to initiate and co-ordinate gender research at both national and international levels. The co-ordination is in charge of both educational and research activities, such as initiating research projects and networks, research conferences, scientific publication etc and acts as a mandated/expert institution in relation to mainstreaming of gender and equality in national and European research politics.
