Today 8500 students are enrolled in 21 different first cycle programmes and 33 second cycle programmes, covering a broad range of areas including all traditional engineering domains and modern specializations in Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Technological Physics Engineering. 1500 students are enrolled in 22 PhD programmes. The Instituto Superior Tecnico has close to 800 faculty, of which 700 are PhD holders, that develop their activity in our campus and provide the necessary guidance to our students. Higher Education and Research and Development of high quality and excellence and in close cooperation with society are developed in several Research Centers providing the most suitable conditions for reinforcing a Research University model. More then 50% of the total budget stems from research projects directly contracted with industry of within the different EC FP contracts.
