Skillrail: Training & Adjucation

Purpose of the present project is to build up the necessary conditions namely in training programs and e-trainin progammes to develop the appropriate scientific and technological skills for the railway sector of the future taking into account the needs of individual stakeholders by means of:

  • Disseminating the social and industrial benefits of training and education in the different surface transport modes (including logistics) and to develop new and innovative forms for further co-operation with industry and within industries
  • Supporting and disseminating the idea that railway transport needs advanced engineering education connected with research and technological development and that therefore appropriate support has to be given to such education
  • Providing access to a range of professional and academic groups in Europe active in surface transport related research and education activities
  • Identify key thematic areas for training and Education activities
  • Design and promote selected T&E initiatives targeted to well defined industry audiences
  • Provide the framework for implementing quality assurance procedures in these T&E activities

• Get to know why calculating energy consumption is important

• Get to know the Energy Calculator (general introduction)

• Learn how to use the Energy Calculator for various goals

• Learn more about related topics

Target audience - engineers and exerts in energy management among manufacturers, railway operators   and infrastructure managers.

E learning features - SCORM model implemented before in www-railenergy.eu and later on EURAIL University platform

Overview on Skillrail Workshops and seminars

Short Training courses

Five short training courses had been organized by the SKILLRAIL consortium. The courses with more than 80 participants from academia and industries contribute to the dissemination of the railways vision and the intense on-going change process. Participants and lecturers underline the the need of additional domains of knowledge that should complement engineering, such as economics, management, sociology, human factors.

Workshops undertaken under the SKILLRAIL umbrella

  • Best Practices in Skill development for the future rail professionals, , Berlin , June 1, 2010
  • Rolling Stock Training, Cracow, September 13 – 17, 2010
  • A sustainable and competitive solution for rail mobility, Lisbon, November 8, 2010
  • Railway Dynamics, Lisbon, November 4 – December 4, 2010
